The video is based upon four rooms; one for each of the four band members. Each room roughly reflects the band member it belongs too and includes their own art and belongings among the props! The band performed with each of them mostly confined to their own room although Anthony Kiedis dances through the rooms at various times. It was filmed in the round in just four takes!

From John Lennon and Harry Nilsson’s wild weekend with their posse at the Rainbow that ended up at Liza Minnelli’s party for Sinatra in Beverly Hills to an unusually contrite Lennon, temporarily exiled from NY by Yoko Ono and lubed with coke and whiskey, pouring out his legendary heart to Dammett.

Blackie cavorted with the likes of Lou Reed, Axl Rose, Andy Warhol, Keith Moon, Alice Cooper, 14-year-old Drew Barrymore, George Carlin, David Lee Roth, Deborah Harry, the Ramones, Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, Ringo, Rod Stewart, Jack Nicholson, Kiss, Rod Stewart, Ryan and Tatum O’Neal, Mackenzie Phillips, Cheech and Chong, Led Zepplin, Art Garfunkle, Richard Hell, Elton John, Sonny & Cher, Jimmy Caan, Woody Allen, Tommy Smothers, Mickey Dolenz, Patti Smith, the New York Dolls, a dash of Basquiat, and the West Hollywood Sheriff’s  Station…the list goes on and on.

Sunday Independent Life Magazine- a long feature (although it seems to be a re-working of an interview that came out last year but it’s interesting all the same).

Here’s an extract:

Kiedis is sitting in the living room of an antique cabin on a hilly estate overlooking the Pacific where he is staying with Everly. Flea’s house is nearby; he and Kiedis both love to surf in these waters. Road Trippin’, on the Chili Peppers’s 1999 album, Californication, was written about one of their surfing holidays here.

“I get up when he gets up,” the singer says, describing a typical day at home with Everly. “I have breakfast with him, but I don’t make it. He has a nanny. My job is to tell stories to him while he eats. And he is demanding about his storytelling. If I try to get away with a
short one, no. We’re talkin’ full-length.”

Puzzles, reading, drawing and “backyard hide-and-seeking” usually follow. There is no television — the kind with “commercials and noise”, as Kiedis puts it. He and Everly watch “1930s animation together, a lot of films. But when he walks into a room where the television is on, he walks right by.”

Kiedis, who lives in Malibu, reserves a couple of hours every day for surfing. (Two years ago, after he was hospitalised with a gall-bladder crisis — “It literally erupted like a volcano inside me” — Kiedis spent his recovery riding waves.) He calls his current dating life “pretty much nonexistent”. As for marriage, “I don’t feel like I need it. Being a single parent is golden.”

“Ak had surgery mon.on his foot so he’s out for 8 weeks..our sincere apologies for the inconvience. ALL u.s. dates have been rescheduled.”

“Red Hot Chili Peppers regret to announce that they must postpone the start of their upcoming U.S. tour due to multiple foot injuries sustained by Anthony Kiedis. Anthony
recently underwent surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot and is expected to make a full recovery.”

Tickets for the postponed dates will be honored at the re- scheduled dates.

By contrast, Anthony was seen enjoying beach time and surfing while in St. Barts over New year and he was photographed walking around LA as recently as the 5th January, again with Beth Jeans Houghton, and there was no sign of any injury then – this could be something new, a worsening of the existing foot problem or the result of scheduled treatment but nothing is known yet.

For the Chilis, the induction is a chance to celebrate original guitarist
Hillel Slovak, who died of a drug overdose in 1988. “He was a beautiful person
that picked up a guitar in the 1970s and didn’t make it out of the 1980s,” says

Chilis Catch Fire

“These are some of the best shows we’ve ever done,” says Red Hot Chili
Peppers bassist Flea. “We’re fucking shit up!” The Chilis’ world tour (singer
Anthony Kiedis and drummer Chad Smith shown performing in Turin, Italy in
December) hits the U.S. this month- and on April 14^th, they join the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Because we’re in such an exciting place right now,”
says Flea, “getting acknowledged for our career has a lot of meaning.”
