Anthony Kiedis, Drugs, Relapses and the YLE (Finland) Interview
The serious bit… A few days ago Anthony was interviewed while in Finland and during that interview he made some comments about having been a drug addict and how that affects his current life. Some websites are taking his comments and to me, making them more sensational than they originally were. To me, Anthony seems to be saying, ‘Yeah, I was a drug addict. I have to be careful as I could relapse and I need to be more careful in some situations more than others,’ but other people are reporting that he’s about to imminently relapse and is terrified of doing so. I’ve picked up so many messages yesterday from people distressed about this after reading certain articles (I’m not going to name them here) that I feel the need to comment. My real job is a history teacher and the historian in my would always say to go back to validated sources of information so, this is what Anthony actually said… and you can judge for yourself.
“Drugs are still part of my psyche”
Anthony Kiedis has a long history with drugs as well. He has been sober for years, but the drug background still affects his life.
– It is definitely a part of my psyche. I have been sober for a long time, but drugs are still a part of me.
The are numerous stories of the rambunctious tour-life of the rock bands. Maybe to somebody’s surprise Anthony Kiedis thinks months-long tour is a safe environment.
– On tour I am at work. Focused. I have things to do. It’s harder after the tour, when you go home. Then I am isolated. And what’s even worse, I have free time. Then you have to be careful.
