Blackie Mail

Anthony’s father, Blackie Dammett, still loves getting mail if people would like to send him something. There’s no need to write (just sign it so people can see who it is from sort of thing) as he only looks at the pictures these days. He especially likes pictures of dogs or wolves. Postcards/cards/photos are the best things to send him. He won’t reply but he really enjoys getting mail and opening it.

You can contact him using this address:

B. Dammett, c/o P. Noble Idema,
PO Box 426,
Ada
Michigan 49301

Hi, I no longer have direct contact with Blackie as he is no longer online. Unfortunately, he has dementia and things are not going to improve. However, this seems like you know him so I have passed on the message to a family member so they can tell Blackie directly.

Hey just wondering what’s going on with Blackie. The situation was pretty serious back in 2017 but there has been no mention of how he’s doing, now 18 months later. I understand that the family wants to keep his condition a private matter but I wonder if he may have passed away without any public statement being made?

There would be a public statement I’m sure. There are updates on his Facebook page (the later John Kiedis account and I then copy them to to original Blackie Dammett account). The dementia is what it is and is taking its toll 🙁 but he’s still alive. With dementia there is no set time frame and the condition varies from person to person.

How is he doing? I have some pictures he sent to me years ago of his wolves, Anthony, James, and the band. I was going to send them, if he still enjoys opening mail and looking at pictures. I’m so sad to hear the news. (I’m a little behind with time…five kids will do that, I guess.) Blackie and I used to communicate a lot before I had my kids. I believe I still have his phone # in one of my old phones.
I have been in healthcare, specializing in geriatrics..Alzheimer’s/dementia, etc., for the last 16 years and did a report on it in nursing school, so I know how the effects of dementia can take a toll on a person along with their family and friends. 🙁 It breaks my heart that I’m JUST finding this out. He was so good to me…such a wonderful guy! <3
