Transcript:

Sex, drugs and Funk’n’Roll: Anthony Kiedis revelled nothing. But you can’t see that he’s 43 years old. To the release of the new albums from the Red Hot Chili Peppers he’s explaining why he’s always running out on women like Heidi Klum.
Kulturnews:
Mr. Kiedis, if one believes your biography „Scar Tissue“ it is a miracle that you’re still a live, not to speak of that you look that healthy.
Anthony Kiedis: I guess that’s a question of mobility. As long as you delight for life, you are opened and able to learn you’ll hold yourself young. But as soon as you think that you’ve lived everything, you are lost. And who knows, maybe the reason is the chaos in my live that I just started that late to grow emotional. I’m like ten or twenty years behind how I should be but exactly because of that I’m so obsessed with all the opportunities that the life gives me. That counts also for the band. We haven’t reached the zenith yet at all.
Kulturnews:
Whereby you meanwhile really take care of your health. You’ve even got ozone injected. Why that?
Anthony Kiedis:
That’s a German thing. It was developed by a Vietnamese veteran but especially practiced in Germany. The reason why I did that: My liver was completely destroyed. But it isn’t that anymore by then. I’m clean for four years- and I enjoy it. But I’m not standing there and playing the moralizer. That’s what others should do. Eventually has made me that, what I’ve done, just made to that what I’m today- it has given me the stuff for my songs and has letting me becoming more mature.
Kulturnews:
What is with your excessive intake on beautiful woman – like Heidi Klum or Sofia Coppola –sounds like an understatement
Anthony Kiedis:
I just like beautiful human beings. And it’s nothing I’m acting up myself. It’s more the opposite: It shows me emotional deficits. And it’s a damn sad thing. Insofar it would be also unfair to label me as a trifler. I’m not opposing that. Just simply because it has something negative. I’m not someone who’s exploiting women. I’ve always treating them with respect. Also, when it (the relationship) didn’t last that long…
Kulturnews:
On the new album you thematise not just your excesses but also the state of the Californian subculture-with lines like “California rest in Peace”. What happened?
Anthony Kiedis:
Actually California is the Mecca for art and literature. Unfortunately it is on its way to become the centre of plastic chirurgic and the bad television shows. I in contrast want to widen the glimpse for the beauty, which is born in this magic environment.
Kulturnews:
Is Los Angeles a she? An only temptation?
Anthony Kiedis:
The whole life is a temptation. And in everything there is something feminine. Including this town. She has seduced me more than once – and ditched. Anyway I love her.
